BISOPE series 85- Measurement and comparison of absolute and relative vibration--------------------------------------------------------

A shaft is a rotating body (Rotor) supported on the bearing of a casing (housing). As this shaft rotates, vibration may occur due to centrifugal force such as mass imbalance, or there may be vibration transmitted from the bearing. Then, what kind of vibration does the shaft vibration sensor installed by attaching to the casing to measure the vibration of the shaft measure? Does it always measure only the vibration of the shaft shaking? What if the sensor itself shakes.....? For example, if an earthquake occurs and vibration is transmitted to the shaft from the foundation to the casing and through the bearing, is the vibration of the stationary shaft dangerous? In reality, the shaft is not even rotating.....

Absolute vibration and relative vibration

Reference) Definitions and evaluation methods related to relative vibration and absolute vibration are well explained in ISO7919.
