BISOPE series 6- Figures in Vibration Engineering (Who were the famous scientists who influenced vibrations?)

------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------

If you want to learn a specialized field, it would be very normal to know the relevant history. Is vibrations largely Mechanical Vibrations? Or is it not? (architecture, structure, earthquake, environment, etc.). As such, mechanical dynamics is the crystallization of all the detailed engineering of mechanical engineering (static mechanics, dynamics, industrial mathematics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, strength of materials, material mechanics, etc.) and can be said to be a complex discipline. However, the number of well-known scholars who have a great influence on these vibrations is not as large as expected. As time goes by, even if many engineers are born, it is only the present at that time, and since the establishment of vibrational science was almost completed 200 years ago, there are really not many famous people who are likely to exist.

Arrangement of figures related to vibrational science

1. Jean Baptise Joseph Fourier (1768-1830) was a French mathematician who was a professor at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. He is famous for his work on thermal fluids and series of trigonometric functions, published in 1822. The expansion of the periodic function into terms of the harmonic function is called the ‘Fourier series’ after him. Here, FT is named for the first time, and then developed into FFT (Fast Fourier Transform).

2. Daniel Bernoulli (1700~1782) Switzerland, medical doctor, professor of mathematics, professor of botany, established hydrostatic and hydrodynamic theories, and is famous for Bernoulli's theorem. He derived the equations of motion for the oscillations of beams (Euler-Bernoulli theory) and also studied the problem of oscillations of strings. He was also the first to propose the principle of superposition of harmonic components in free oscillations.

3. Galileo Galilei (1564~1642) Italian astronomer, philosopher, professor of mathematics, building the first astronomical telescope, his first thesis on dynamics, and his achievements on the vibration of a simple pendulum and the vibration of a string became the cornerstone of the theory of vibration.

4. Sir Rayleigh (1870s)-Theory on sound, how to find the frequency using the energy law

5. Timoskenko (1978~1972)-Improved vibration theory of beams, thick beam theory.

6. De Laval (1845-1913)-An analysis of the vibration problem of an unbalanced rotating plate.

7. Frahm (1900s)-Steam ship propeller shaft design torsional vibration study, dynamic reducer design.

8. Chang Hong (AD 132)-Chinese historian, invented the first seismometer.
